Good evening, my dear companions in the land of freedom from academia. Despite our lack of structured study, I have a question for anyone familiar with the fascinating world of Muggle computing and what is apparently known colloquially as the "world wide web"*.

As I expected, wizarding literature is woefully inadequate in the field of technology**; I have found our books to be light years behind in terms of what exactly is available in the Muggle market, even for their antiquated era of publishing.

While I have fashioned plans for a magical source capable of generating electricity and hijacking internet access with help from our mausoleum garden caretaker (I assure you, we're loopholing the ministry here. I will not be committing any crime), I am unsure of just which muggle device to procure for the purposes of "skyping" with the individuals John Egbert and Dave Strider (or anyone else who is familiar with this piece of software - I would be happy to make your electronic acquaintance).

To put it shortly, I have questions about which computer to buy. Many questions.

What exactly is the importance of an operating system and should I be buying a Mac or a Windows? What about Linux? Is this even important or am I talking entirely out of my rear end? Should I take a day trip to London and talk to one of those enthusiastic tech-savvy people in the glitzy part of muggle central?

On the other hand, I have come to enjoy the muggle high street here in town. The bookshop is fascinating and has a lovely little café, where I have taken to perusing the relevant literature. It very adequately keeps me out of my mother's way.

What have you been up to?

It's just the way they market it.

Yes, they are. Have you really never tried?

No, it's great marketing, you have to have a Mac to be cool, or something.

You should give it a shot. Don't they ever talk about it in Muggle Studies?

Don't bother.

Well, the hand-helds are easier to hide, obviously, so it's a good bet. Get the DS.

I guess I would start girls off with Pokemon.

A lot of girls like it because there's cute animals in it.

...what? No. You just make them fight each other.

I...suppose you could put it like that, sure.

It's just a game, really. It's not like it tempts children to start cockfighting rings.

You're overthinking it. Really.

Oh no, I definitely believe you. It's just weird. How old are you, again?
